Igadaboo the White Monk
Stats: Age 19 Height 6' 1” Nationality USA
Ethnic Group White
Description:
Iga has fairly good looks, and in
fact he looks rather like a certain
womanizing cartoon monk I know, so he
consideres himself to be full of
charm and compasion. He wears a white headband all ninja style, a hoop
Earring in the left ear, and a ring on
the left middle finger, which has
prayer beads attached to it that
seem to glow dully with shifting
blue and white colors as if some
hidden power resides in them. He
also wears an amulet suspended from
his neck, made from simple metal in
the shape of a pentagon and it is inset
with a perfectly spherical white
stone. Obviously it appears to be
quite ordinary. Igadaboo dresses as
a simple monk with a dark blue yet
almost black cloak, which seems out
of place. He uses slight camouflage
in his clothing which may seem to
shift between rich green, browns,
and grays, also he seems to have an
almost overabundant amount of pouches and pockets, which are also
on the inside of his cloak. His
shirts are long sleeved and he wears
simple leather soles. Openly, he carries a staff with a circlet of silver, attached to which are two gold rings at either side, and a quite unique bow made of steel with the wings of an angel. The wings of his bow are on the left side and appear as though they could be used as a shield.
Accessory Notes:
The earring is not really important,
and is an omage to my true self (out of char), however in Iga's homeland it is customary to have one in each ear. In a tragic turn of events when
he was quite young, the other earring
was ripped out. It is also customary
never to allow the earrings to be removed so he was forbade to put it
back in, setting him apart from his
monk brethren at the Temple.
The ringed prayer beads are important
and are related to Iga's Curse.
The amulet, as mentioned above, appears to be quite ordinary. Iga came by the amulet when he fell
into a river near some old ruins on
the outskirts of his homeland.
His hand simply touched it while it
lay on the riverbed, and he grasped it while scrambling for handholds in the fast current. Afterwards he became unconscious; luckily he was not alone and was saved by his brethren. After saving Iga, his
Brethren found that they could not pry the amulet from his hand, and
ever since he awoke Iga has found
himself quite unable to part with it.
Background:
Igadaboo was born in a remote village in a valley of a mountain region. After the mysterious
Disappearance of his parents, he vowed to one day discover the fate
which befell them. The superstitious
villagers turned him out, so Iga
decided to journey to a nearby temple and become a monk. Perhaps the Elder monk saw something in the
boy who stood before him and allowed him to join the brotherhood.
After years of study, meditation,
and prayer, himself and two other young monks were sent on an errand that required going to his village.
However, when the trio arrived they
found the village aflame. The memory of his lost parents and seeing the village on fire awoke something from deep within him, and raising his hands to the sky with upturned palms, his eyes shone brightly and a strong wind swept down into the valley and vanquished the flames. With many thankyous and
heartfelt apologies, the villagers
sent the trio along with the herbs
the Elder monk had requested. There
his two brethren related the story
of their journey to the village,
afterwhich the Elder monk asks Iga
to join him in his study. Once
within the study, he tells Iga what
he may have suspected all along, that he may be the legendary White Monk. The Elder monk then begins to relate the legend, which had been passed from elder to elder for generations.
The Legend of the White Monk
Every five thousand years Diablo, the Holy Tester of Faith in the Lord, puts the mortal realm to the Ultimate Test, near annihilation. However, you can always pass a test, and the legend speaks of an especially devout monk who may or may not save the realm from such great cataclysm. Succeeding would depend upon the collective faith in the Lord of the entire mortal realm and the monk’s faith in himself. Unfortunately the elder doesn’t know when this will all occur, or what exactly might happen to the mortal realm, since five thousand years is a long time.
After the telling is finished, the Elder monk suggests it may be time to leave the temple, as all monks must do eventually to start out on the path of spiritual awareness, and discover what befell his parents.
Holy Powers and Skills:
Due to his study at the temple Iga is very skilled with herbs, placebos, potions, poisons, waters with varying effects, (which other chars may or may not agree with), and he can mix strong drinks found from all over the world. However, if Iga journeys to get ingredients he does not have in his many pouches, the mentioned skills receive extra power or effects.
Since Iga is the White Monk, he is infused with white holy power. Using chants learned at the temple, and strong emotion, he draws upon the faith in the lord and the power of his own holy soul to use these powers. Basic Holy Spells include curing, healing, levitation, prayer telepathy, manipulation of holy light to blind or provide light when needed, he also seems to have some sway in controlling the 4 elements. As in all realms everything is a pair, so like the other side of a coin, when great anger, hatred, or great need arises his power can become deadly to other chars; using toxins and power he may incapacitate some players, wreath them in fire, drown in large swells of water, blind or cause other bad effects, cause the four winds to blow with great force even against each other causing vortexes and tornado like effects, manipulate the earth in any form be it sand rock plant and even animals and may cause quakes or large chasms to open and swallow evil foes, through water manipulation he may summon the fury of natures wrath making hail rain thunderstorms lightning snow and great cold or heat from the sun and using the winds he can drive these effects one way or that and cause tornadoes and hurricanes if near large lakes or oceans.
On a final note, Iga feels that he must become stronger and expand his powers uses, but “I” will not yet mention how this may be achieved.
Igadaboo’s Curse
Sometime after starting out on his journey Igadaboo is inflicted with a terrible curse, which tests his faith. When this occurs Iga’s left hand is pierced clean through with a large blow dart and becomes intoxified with a dark herbal brew causing an open wound. The blow dart was infused with dark magic causing searing pain , which spreads throughout his veins if not contained to the wound, shortly after this occurs he receives his prayer beads, which he binds around the wound with, clothe and herbs, he also takes mixed tonics to treat the pain. On an unexpected twist if Iga touches some one with the wound while it’s undressed, the searing pain of his curse is inflicted upon him and it incapacitates the weak, however when this occurs the pain also starts flowing through the monk’s veins as a double edged sword. Iga knows that he must find a cure lest the pain should one day overwhelm him and shatter his soul. Look for more details below. Final note, Iga can channel his power through the beads.
Weapons:
As mention above Igadaboo carries a staff through witch he channels most of his power, what was not mentioned above is that the staff contains a kimono sword, the handle of which is the top of his staff. His staff is also a pike, since the bottom of it is pointed and very sharp. His bow actually is a pair of angelic steel wings and surely such a unique item has some power or purpose. However, for now all he can do is shoot it and due to the position of the wings use it as a shield. Not mentioned above was the many throwing daggers hidden in his sleeves, some of which are poison tipped.
Fighting Skills:
Since the main goal of his brother hood is to rid the land of evil all monks receive the same training, and combat is no different. All of his brethren are trained in the Kung Foo of the anchient Tibetan Monks. Be wary, and remember, it’s not over until the fat lady sings.
Enter the Dark Side:
Well Groky, what do you have to report about the village.
*whimpers* A single monk put an end to the fire you commanded me to set, Sir.
What, and I suppose you just ran away.
He was accompanied by two of his bretheran.
-considers- Sephanerin
Yes, Sir!
Take this whelp to identify that monk, then watch and wait for your opportunity. When it comes knocking, slay an animal of the forest and lure him, with a trail of blood, to the wolven den to meet his doom, muhaha!
Haha, Yes, Sir!
-Groky- hehe
Shut up, oh Sephanerin, if things go badly use this blowgun, but you only have one shot.
-Groky, cringes- Paragraphs will be used for Dark Side hear after.
Chapter 1
Igadaboo’s Journey : The Beginning
The day of the telling of the legend, Iga’s brotherhood held the going away ceremony and feasted traditionally afterwards. That night Igadaboo had a dream in which he beheld his parents. Nothing about them really stood out, except that his mother wore an amulet necklace with a single small gem upon it and his father wore bronze wristcufflets. Seeing them filled his heart with joy, but then to his horror they burst into instantaneous flame and he awoke in a cold sweat. Needless to say he didn’t get much more sleep. In the morning, The Elder monk gave Iga a staff claiming it too had been passed down the generations and many herbs, plants, and water to mix potions. Igadaboo then asked the Elder monk to allow 3 of his brethren to accompany him to the village, where he wished them to remain, claiming the fire in his dream could be a sign of warning about the fire in the village. He agreed, and then giving final farewells he and his three companions set of to the village. Upon arriving they decided to erect a Holy Barrier. So, they planted 4 posts on the outskirts of the village and attacked runed scrolls to them. The posts serve as the boundaries for the barrier, then moving to the center of the village the four joined palms and began the incantation. Once the barrier was up Iga and two of the others stopped chanting while the brother they had chosen earlier continued to sustain the barrier ( all of Iga’s brotherhood posses some power when it comes to chants), and wondered when one of the others would take his place. Igadaboo then said goodbye and walked out of the village toward the west in the direction of the temple. Ounce outside the barrier, he sat down and holding his staff aloof he chanted Divine Direction, and slamming down the staff he quickly let it go and placed his palms together. He then waited for the staff to react as it was standing strait up, after a few seconds it fell back landing on his head, where it stayed pointing at the midmorning sun in the east. With that Igadaboo began his journey by walking into the sunlight.
Chapter 2
Igadaboo’s Cursing
The White Monk walks east for two days sustaining himself on water, herbs, woodland nuts and berries, and a single rabbit. On the third day, he smelled fresh blood and found a trail of small drops here and there. He also notices some bent weeds and grasses, and a tree with 4 deep gouges slashed across it. The monk then smells the blood carefully and determines it is the fresh blood of a dear, which is dead already! “Tony”, then has a revelation and believes some evil is afoot, which he has been sent to put an end to. After this, he fallowed the trail of blood slowly. As he comes upon an exceptionally tall tree he teleports to the top and hides in its branches. The White Monk then takes out a looking glass and looks down upon the trail of blood. Moving his field of vision along it he discovers it leads into a small cave. Teleporting down to the base of the tree, the monk approaches the cave stealthily. He stops at the edge of the wooded area before the small rocky space between it and the cave, and finds a small patch of fur with blood upon it. By studying the fur carefully and smelling the blood he discovered it was the fur of a lowly werewolf, pour tortured spirits of men and women who are taken as slaves by an unknown force when they become cursed by another werewolf. Notes that it is sundown and the moon shall be full. He smiles and chuckles slightly, he thinks, fate has been kind. Taking out some wolf vane, water, and other ingredients he mixes a vial of “ Wolven Reversal. ” The White Monk then takes out a single throwing dagger and dips it into the potion and begins an incantation of “ Holy Forgiveness ’’ infusing the dagger with the power released. Notes the moon is now up, and then runs up to the mouth of the cave and yells out Holy flash of Light. A bright light then blasts out from the two golden rings at the top of his staff in two perfect spheres. While shielding his eyes, the light suddenly dims but sustains itself, and in the cave a short distance away he finds his mark, the werewolf! The White Monk quickly threw the dagger into the werewolf’s chest and watched it pass out as the transformation reversed. After which he chanted Holy Soul Cleansing, and the lord cured it of the terrible curse. Pulling out the dagger, he notes the wound is not deep, Tony then pours some of his water on the wound and dresses it with curative herbs. Notes that the formal werewolf is female and is of Amazonian culture.
Walking just outside the cave’s mouth he immediately hears a rustle in some tall grasses. Teleporting, he appears in front of two low level demons and strikes out at the larger one from the left and to the side with his staff. However, it uses Demonic Escape and sinks into the ground in a millisecond, causing the monk to crack the smaller of the two in the head knocking him out. Looking at the small demon, he puts a rosary around it’s neck and chants White Containment, then finishes the holy spell and shouts “ Shut Up!” Smiles in amusement as the imp is shocked violently, bringing him awake. Tell me imp why are you here, says Iga. Groky mumbles, then says, just searching for food… Iga then raises his left arm above his head with palm outstretched and makes ready to slap the foolish imp. However, his left palm is suddenly pierced clean through with a blow dark that came out of know where, the monk then watches in dissatisfaction as a dark liquid burns a hole the size of quarter out from the dart. Groky turns to run off, and I begin to shout in pain which spreads through my veins like fire, but not needlessly for I shout shut up three times and the imp passes out. Un-corks a vial of Holy Morphine, and drinks the entire thing and then cleans, and dresses the wound with a salve made from many plants and other natural ingredients, but is unable to remove the searing black liquid. The white monk then puts a rosary onto him self and chants Holy Entrapment and his “two” rosaries glow slightly. Sighs, and then walks back to the cave smiling as the imp is dragged on the ground behind him.
Enters cave and goes over to the Amazon , she is still out cold, so he forces her to drink a few diff vials. He then gets up and looks about the cave, moving to the back of the cave he finds the bones of several animals and two humans. Cries out in tears of sadness and healing relief, as he finds an amulet and two bronzed wrist cuffs. Putting them away into his cloak, he hears the girl stir awake and walks behind her as she sits up. Looking in front of her, she backs away in terror as all she sees is the familiar imp and collides with me. I then put my finger to her lips as she looks up and I say, “ Be not afraid, take another look at it.” The girl looks again as I speak “shut up”, and she watches in blissful delight as it’s rosary glows and shocks him. However I suddenly collapse, then fall to my left hitting the cave floor and pass out into a coma like state.
Chapter 3
The Gathering of the Beads
Enter Miss Croft the Amazonian Warrior
Miss Croft then looks back up at the man who appears to be a monk of the distant White Temple, and cries out, in concern as she watches him faint and fall on the floor. “Note”, previously not mentioned is that the brotherhood consists of many temples each one of which has it’s own color and each monk wears a headband of the color to “represent” his temple of origin. She looks the monk over and notes his appearance, he has a rosary about his neck that is glowing slightly, and a staff with two rings that shine like light bulbs in the night darkness.
Miss Croft says, “He doesn’t look to be in great health, what happened here?” She then finds Iga’s Bow and a quiver of ten arrows for it, at this moment Groky awakens. Due to this she quickly takes the bow and takes direct aim at Groky, then says, “Little demon, you shall help me carry this monk to the Green Temple, in the south. “Stand up you welp and start walking out of the cave.” Since his life is at stake, Groky complies with her request. However, upon reaching the mouth of the cave he was suddenly shocked violently by the rosary about his neck, and Miss Croft just laughs about it. Croft says, “It seems you can’t leave your captors side, how convienent.” “Stay here and behave then.” The Amazon then goes out side of the cave and uses her short sword to cut branches and stuff and she then uses them to make a stretcher thing. Carrying the stretcher into the cave she ordered Groky to help her move the monk onto it. After this is akomplished, she tells him to hold the front behind his back and walk in front and takes the back and lifts it. With that they set of towards the Green Temple.
